Post 3 Dear Souls

We all begin our journey of faith or faithlessness and begin planting seeds in our little plot of bare dirt (our life) and add to it as we talked about in the last blog post. The foundation that our worldview is built is: either a Creator (God), No Creator (Atheist) or Agnostic (who can know?) I hope that you have either done a deep dive on this since reading my previous post or at least started to dive. Because once you determine that, your life choices will reflect one of these views.
Early in life, some hear only one faith view, some hear many faith views, and some are shown no faith view or even told that faith is a bunch of malarkey (lol, use the word choice you deem best- I don’t use malarkey often and it wanted to be used). All this impacts us as we form a worldview. Many people never question their worldview and accept what has been handed down to them. But if you are like me, you want to know. Because you cannot live out a faith that you don’t know or understand. If you try, you will build your life on that faith until it no longer works for you. Until your prayers aren’t answered. Or until something awful happens and it seems that faith doesn’t matter a bit. Or until your life is so charmed that you don’t “need” faith.
For me, after all my investigation, I determined that a Creator makes the most sense for what I see all around me in creation. The next question I had though was: of all the religions in this world, why am I a Christian. (Please insert your belief in place of Christian.) This almost seemed too scary to ask because you are questioning everything your life has been built upon up to this point. It seemed like unbelief. Well, I will tell you, I think it is the beginning of truly owning your faith.
The number of religions and sects within faiths can be daunting. So, I am attaching a very simple overview. At the end, it shows the most recent results of what people believe or claim as their belief. It is fascinating. https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/field/religions/
For more in depth information about world religions, there are many you can check out from a library or purchase. The one pictured is an example, but there are lots to choose from. Take all the time you need for this part too!
